The back- striped fat- tailed lemur ( Cheirogaleus sibreei ) is a primate species from the lemur group . The species is so far only known from museum specimens.

Backstripe fat-tailed lemurs are similar to brown fat-tailed lemurs . Their fur is gray-brown on the back, their belly and flanks are whitish-gray. The name-giving feature is a dark eel line on the back. The head is round, the dark circles under the eyes are only weakly pronounced in contrast to other fat- tailed lemurs. The ears are dark and slightly hairy.

The specimens come from three different places in the east of the island of Madagascar , so their habitat is rainforests . Otherwise nothing is known about their way of life, it may be the same as that of the fat-tailed lemur.

The degree of risk is also unclear, the IUCN lists the species under “too little data available” ( data deficient ).
