Rüdiger Beckhaus

Rüdiger Beckhaus (* 1955 in Boizenburg / Elbe ) is a German chemist . He has been Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg since 1998 .

Life

He studied chemistry at the Technical University of Leuna-Merseburg with a degree in chemistry . Afterwards he completed his doctoral thesis in the working group of Karl-Heinz Thiele at the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry of the TH Leuna-Merseburg until 1984. Between 1990 and 1991 he did a postdoc at the Technical University of Munich (Peter Hofmann). 1991 Rüdiger Beckhaus completed his habilitation at the TH Leuna-Merseburg. Before he accepted the call to Oldenburg in 1998, he held a professorship at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen ( RWTH Aachen for short ). In the meantime, the Humboldt and Heisenberg fellow did research at the California Institute of Technology(UNITED STATES). In 1998 Beckhaus also received the Carl Duisberg Memorial Prize from the Society of German Chemists and the first sponsorship prize from the Karl Ziegler Foundation. He is also a member of the expert committee for inorganic molecular chemistry in the German Research Foundation .

Research areas

The focus of his research is the organometallic chemistry of early transition metals in order to be able to develop environmentally friendly technologies in the field of new materials.

Publications and patents

In his research, Rüdiger Beckhaus has written around 100 publications in specialist journals and articles in books and is the inventor or co-inventor of several patents.
