Rōshi ( Japanese 老師 ) is a title of particularly experienced, authorized teacher in Zen Buddhism . Rōshi means something like old teacher or old master and describes a person who teaches a Zen community ( Sangha ) spiritually. Despite the literal meaning, the title has nothing to do with the actual age of the person.
