Christoph Ludwig Raschen , also Rasch, Rasche, Christoffer Ludwig Raschius von Segnitz (born December 30, 1584 in Magdeburg , † November 12, 1645 in Bremen - Walle ) was a German knight , officer and diplomat .

biography

Ritter von Rasch (en) was the son of the Count's Privy Councilor and Chancellor from the House of Barby in the Magdeburg region. From 1597 he studied at the University of Helmstedt as well as at the University of Marburg , University of Heidelberg and the University of Basel . He then became an officer and served five years, most recently as a captain , in the army of the Republic of Venice . He then studied at the University of Frankfurt an der Oder .

After completing his studies, Raschen became a Brandenburg Chamber Secretary and Chamber Councilor as well as a Lieutenant Colonel . In 1620 he took on diplomatic missions in Sweden , including in Bremen. From 1633 to 1635 he was Swedish resident and authorized minister for the Hanseatic cities and the Lower Saxony Reichskreis in Hamburg.

In 1635 Raschen leased the Walle estate from Bremen mayor Havemann . In 1641 he was captured and kidnapped by imperial troops . In 1644 he returned to Walle.

Raschen was buried in the Waller church in 1645 . In 1658 the church tower of the former Michaeliskapelle was built over the grave vault of the knight Raschen. A plaque commemorated him. In 1952, during excavations, the coffin and the well-preserved skeleton of the knight were found at a depth of three meters, but next to the tower. The skeleton was then reburied.

The Ritter-Raschen-Platz and the Ritter-Raschen-Strasse in Walle are a reminder of him.
