Live and act

Taylor started his career in his native Toronto in the early 1960s. In 1964 he was hired by Motown, where he worked with Brian Holland and Lamont Dozier , among others . As a co-producer he was responsible for the Diana Ross & the Supremes hit Love Child , which he also co-wrote.

In 1967 he wrote the title Gotta see Jane , with which he had his breakthrough as a singer in 1968, but initially only in England. He was even more successful in 1970, now on the Motown label Rare Earth , with Indiana Wants Me , a number 2 hit in England and number 5 in the USA. Also in second place in England was There's a Ghost in My House in 1974 . He had already recorded this song in 1967 and released it back then without success. He was awarded silver in Great Britain . Also in 1974 he reached the charts again with Window Shopping (number 41 in England).
