RAMLink

RAMLink is a plug-in module to expand the working memory ( RAM ) for the home computers C64 and C128 . The RAMLink manufactured by Creative Micro Designs (CMD), which is often used as a RAM disk , is an alternative to the corresponding expansion modules from Commodore ( REU series). He works with JiffyDOS . It is thus a RAM disk that behaves like a Commodore drive. Its memory of up to 16 MB is supplied by an external power supply unit and is also buffered by a battery. This means that the data is not lost even after a power failure. The RAMLink emulates the drives VC1541 , VC1571 , VC1581 . As a RAM disk, the RAMLink works 400 times faster than a corresponding floppy disk drive (e.g. VC1541 ). It has a special parallel connection for the hard disks offered by CMD, an internal clock ( RTC ) and two expansion port slots, one of which can be used for a Commodore RAM Expansion Unit (REU) and the other for any other plug-in card .
