REGA 7 is a rescue helicopter operated by the Swiss Air Rescue Service (REGA) in St. Gallen . The helicopter is considered a dual-use helicopter and is also used as an intensive care transport helicopter . It is equipped with a winch for mountain rescue. The helicopter can be used from Kreuzlingen to the Rhine Valley and from Lake Constance to the Churfirsten . A modern Eurocopter H145 has been arriving since November 2019for use. The helicopter is fully suitable for night flight and is ready for use around the clock. He is alerted via the REGA operations center in Zurich / Kloten. ( Emergency number 1414). In 2019, the helicopter was used 869 times.
The helicopter base in St. Gallen was founded on April 2nd, 1981. He was originally stationed at the St. Gallen Children's Hospital. In winter he was stationed under a motorway bridge. This has been found to be problematic in many ways. On December 22nd, 1984, the new base in an industrial area in the western part of St. Gallen, in St. Gallen Winkeln, was put into operation. Originally an Alouette III was used, from 2009 an AgustaWestland Da Vinci . REGA 7 was the first REGA helicopter base to be equipped with this model. A Eurocopter H145 has been in use since November 2019.
