RKO Pictures LLC (sometimes also: RKO Pavilion ) is an American film production and film distribution company . The company was founded in 1989 as a merger of Dina Merrills and Ted Hartley's Pavilion Communications with RKO / Six Flags Entertainment Inc., a company founded by General Tire in 1981 , which had belonged to Wesray Capital Corporation as RKO / Six Flags Entertainment Inc. since 1987 .

Many of RKO Pictures LLC's productions are remakes of films made by the historic Hollywood studio RKO Pictures , the material and scripts of which the company now owns the rights to. In 2007, the Roseblood Movie Company was established within RKO Pictures LLC , specializing in the production of horror films.

The company, which like most modern production companies of this size, does not have its own studio facilities, is located in Los Angeles .

The company is a legal successor to the large Hollywood studio RKO Pictures (1929–1957). RKO Pictures LLC owns the rights to all trademarks and logos associated with this studio, as well as all rights to the scripts, screenplays, remakes and the like that have to do with the RKO film stocks. In contrast, it has no exploitation rights to the film inventory itself; Most of these are now with Time Warner .
