Raúl Rettig

Raúl Rettig Guissen (born May 16, 1909 in Temuco , † April 30, 2000 in Santiago de Chile ) was a Chilean politician and diplomat .
He was a senator from 1949 and ambassador to Brazil under Salvador Allende . In the final phase of Augusto Pinochet's dictatorship , he participated in the (illegal) political opposition. After the transition he became chairman of the Comisión de Verdad y Reconciliación nacional (also known as the Rettig Commission ), a truth commission for dealing with human rights.
