Rab Huna

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rab Huna was a second generation Amora (250–290) in Babylonia (* around 212 or 216; after Iggeret Rab Scherira Gaon died in 297, but this is unlikely, he probably died decades earlier).

He was above all a Halachist , a contemporary of Rabbis , a student of Rab and Mar Samuel ; most important teacher in Sura after Rab.

Rab Huna was probably identical to the learned exile Huna II.

His body was brought to Palestine.

Rabbah bar Rab Huna was his son.
