Rabba bar Chana

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rabba bar Chana (also: Abba bar Chana ) was a Jewish scholar of antiquity, is counted among the Amoraans of the first generation and lived and worked in the third century AD.

He was the brother son of R. Chijja , a colleague of his cousin Rab and, like him, a student of Rabbi , from whom he received the authority to make decisions under religious law (Sanh 5a).

It is not infrequently confused in printed works with Rabba bar bar Chana .
