Jürg Vollmer (born January 30, 1962 in Chur ) is a Swiss journalist .

Life

Vollmer trained as a journalist in 1984 at the Media Training Center (MAZ) and then at Swiss television . From 1982 to 1990 he was an editor at the Swiss Political Correspondence (SPK) in Bern and St. Gallen, among others . From 1990 to 1996 he worked as an editor and correspondent for Swiss television in Zurich and for Deutsche Welle TV in Cologne. In 1996 he was editor-in-chief of the satirical magazine Nebelspalter .

From 1998 to 2001, Jürg Vollmer completed an institute course on fundraisers VMI / Swissfundraising at the University of Freiburg . At the same time, he was the Swiss managing director of Menschen für Menschen , a foundation founded by Karlheinz Böhm that supports self-development in Ethiopia . From 2001 to 2004 he worked as a communications consultant for various non-governmental organizations (NGO) in Eastern Europe and East Africa. From 2004 to 2008 he was communications officer at the Swiss Library for the Blind (SBS) .

He is a co-founder of the organization for donation-financed journalism maiak - The Newsroom of Eastern Europe, which was established on May 1, 2009 based on the American model of ProPublica and was dissolved again in 2011 .

From April 2010 to May 2011, Jürg Vollmer was Co-President of the Switzerland-Russia Society and a board member of the Switzerland-CIS youth exchange .

From 2011 to 2016 he was project manager and editor-in-chief of various media, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and companies in Switzerland (including Aroser Zeitung , HMQ Ingenieure , Pizol Bergbahnen and BienenSchweiz - Beekeeping Association of German and Rhaeto-Romanic Switzerland). From 2014 to 2017 he was also an author for the Swiss specialist agricultural magazine “ Die Grüne” and the Swiss news portal watson .

Since 2017, Jürg Vollmer has been the editor-in-chief of “die Grüne”, the Swiss trade magazine for agriculture, and since 2020 the author of the Smart Farming blog in watson .

Vollmer is married and lives in Thun.
