Rabbitt was a pop band from South Africa founded in 1972 and extremely popular there in the 1970s.

history

The band was founded in 1972 by friends Trevor Rabin , Duncan Faure , Ronnie Robot and Neil Cloud. A previous band was called The Conglomeration , in which Rabin, Cloud, Robot and guitarist Allan Rosenberg played.

In 1972 they released their first single , a cover version of Jethro Tull's Locomotive Breath , which was a huge hit. After a short break in 1973 due to Rabin's military service, Rabbitt went on tour through South African clubs in 1974. In 1976 the debut album "Boys Will Be Boys" was released, which reached gold status faster than any other South African album before. Rabbitt received a Sarie , a prestigious music award , for this .

"A Croak & A Grunt In The Night" (1977) was even more successful, and the band planned a tour of the USA and England. But the plans failed and Trevor Rabin left the band and South Africa to start a solo career in England. He recorded the three guitar rock albums Trevor Rabin (1978), Face To Face (1979) and Wolf (1981) and later became known as the guitarist and singer of the progressive rock band Yes .

Rabbitt then released the album Rock Rabbitt as a trio , but after the tour that followed, the band separated. Faure joined the Bay City Rollers .
