Racing Destruction Set

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Racing Destruction Set , published in 1985 by Electronic Arts , was one of the first computer racing games in which you could put together the racetrack yourself, choose the equipment of the racing vehicle relatively freely and influence other environmental conditions. The racetrack could also contain mud and ice sections as well as ramps and intersections. The gravitation could be adjusted like on the moon or Jupiter and cars or motorcycles could be equipped with different tires.

On the self-created routes, impressive collisions could be possible, or the spectacular flight of a vehicle into the landscape.

Split-screen technology and the possibility of sabotaging the opponent with puddles of oil or mines created tension.

The game was programmed by Rick Koenig , with graphic assistance from Connie Goldman and music from David Warhol . It was published for home computers from Atari and the Commodore C64 , among others .
