Radar Data Interchange Format

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Radar Data Interchange Format ( RDIF ; German  radar data exchange format ) is a protocol for the exchange of radar data. The standard is laid down by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA, British Aviation Authority ) in the document "RDIF CAA Paper 87002 from 1991". The data format describes 64 different messages, of which only a small part is actually used.

As a data format, RDIF has been largely superseded by the European Asterix protocol . However, there are still a few radar systems in operation that support the RDIF data format, such as Watchman S radars.
