The Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary is a game reserve in the Indian state of Maharashtra , located in the Satara district and was founded in 1958. It belongs to the coastal mountains of Western Ghats and is thus part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage . The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources has classified the area in Category IV. It is the oldest national park in Maharashtra. In 1985 the area was significantly expanded to include some forest areas. In addition to numerous animal and plant species that are worth protecting, the national park is also of religious, cultural and archaeological importance.
