history

In 1983, the first private radio stations began broadcasting in Switzerland. In 1986 the first working group was formed in the Bernese Oberland. These employees were still doing the voluntary preparation for their own radio in the Bernese Oberland. On June 6, 1987, Radio BeO broadcast for the first time from the Interlaken studio .

The transmission area was expanded. Today the whole of the Bernese Oberland is accessible. The city of Bern and parts of the Emmental are connected by cable. A separate advertising department was founded in 1992 and the full program with an independent night program was introduced in 1995. A broadcast week was held on the Jungfraujoch for the 10th anniversary . It was worth an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as Europe's highest radio station.

In 2000 the company moved into the new studio in Interlaken and opened a second studio in Thun. The program has been fully digitized since 2003.
