Radisson Blu Hotel Olümpia

The Radisson Blu Hotel Olümpia is an 84 meter high hotel in the Estonian capital Tallinn . The building had been the tallest in the city since 1980, apart from the church spiers, until it was surpassed by the SEB building with its 94.5 m in 1999.

The hotel is located 1.5 km from the Town Hall Square ( Town Hall Square ), about 1 km from the passenger port and around 4 km from Tallinn Airport away. It has 390 rooms.

history

The building was built in 1980 by Finnish companies for the sailing competitions of the 1980 Summer Olympics . The grand opening of the hotel took place on April 6, 1980. Opened as Hotell Olümpia and later operated as Reval Hotel Olümpia after the public property was sold into private hands , completely renovated in 1997, it was renamed Radisson Blu Hotel Olümpia in 2010 as part of the Radisson Blu chain .

The project was designed by Estonian architects Toivo Kallas , Rein Kersten , Ain Andressoo and others.

Prominent overnight guests included Indira Gandhi , Alla Pugatschowa , David Copperfield , Rammstein and Montserrat Caballé .
