The Oberhausen cycling track is a cycling track in Oberhausen-Rheinhausen . It belongs to the cycling club Edelweiß eV Oberhausen .

On October 15, 1949, the RSV Edelweiß Oberhausen decided to build a cycling track, four weeks later construction began. The members of the association built the track themselves from gravel and tar grit ; it was 300 meters long and had a slight increase in the curve. On June 4, 1950, the inaugural race took place.

In 1959, the association decided to build a new cycling track, as the existing one was no longer safe due to many repairs. In addition, there were numerous falls that were due to the insufficient increase in the curve. The old runway was torn down and construction began in March 1961. On May 13, 1962, the new cycle track was inaugurated, which is 333.33 meters long and 6.5 meters wide and has a curve elevation of 28 degrees; the covering was made of cement. In the same year the German Railway Championships took place there. In 1963 an escape lighting system was installed.

In 1985 the runway was again in poor condition and the paving was renewed with a new type of concrete mix. Since 2005, the six days night has been organized annually on the track by the former racing cyclist Erik Weispfennig . In 2013 the German Railway Championships took place on the track. The track is also part of the annual three- track tour that takes place over the weekend of Pentecost and takes place on the cycle tracks in Oberhausen, Dudenhofen and Öschelbronn .
