The Raevski Islands (French Îles Raevski ) are a group of islands in the central area of the Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia . The group consists of the three small, uninhabited atolls Hiti , Tepoto Sud and Tuanake . Administratively, the islands belong to the municipality of Makemo and there to the sub-municipality ( "Commune associée" ) Katiu . The total land area of the three atolls is almost 10 km².
The Raevski Islands were discovered in 1820 by the Baltic German seafarer Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen , who was in Russian service .
