Raffaele Baldassarre (born September 23, 1956 in Lecce ; † November 10, 2018 ) was an Italian politician ( Il Popolo della Libertà ).

Baldassarre studied law at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore . After completing his studies, he worked as a lawyer.

Political career

From 1982 he was head of the youth movement of the Christian Democrats in the city of Cavallino . Between 1991 and 1994 he was on the board of the Lecce province of the Democrazia Cristiana party and from 1998 to 1999 country secretary of the Cristiani Democratici Uniti . From 2009 to 2014 he was a member of the European Parliament for the party Il Popolo della Libertà (renamed Forza Italia in 2013 ) and a member of the Group of the European People's Party (Christian Democrats) .

He was married and had two children. He died at the age of 62 after a heart attack .
