Raggio di Luna , also Moon Ray , actually Mandy Ligios (* 1963) is a pop singer.

Life

Ligios was born in France to a Brazilian mother and a Greek father. As a teenager, she gained her first stage experience as a musical actress in Jesus Christ Superstar , Hair and Evita . The stage name Moon Ray comes from this time. In the mid-1980s she was a member of the ensemble of the musical All That Jazz , with which she toured Europe.

While on vacation in Italy, she met the two music producers Aldo Martinelli and Fabrizio Gatto . Together they created the single Comanchero , for which the singer took the name Raggio di Luna - the Italian translation of "Moon Ray" ( German  moon beam ).

The recording reached the top ten sales lists in German-speaking countries and in her home country France in early 1985 and stayed in the charts in Germany for five months. Today it is considered a classic of the Italo Disco . The successor single, released in the same year, was unsuccessful.
