Ragnarock City (ラ グ ナ ロ ッ ク シ テ ィ Ragunarokku Shiti) is a manga album by Satoshi Urushihara that was first published in Japan in 2001 and is an atypical mixture of manga and artbook for this genre of literature . In six so-called scenes , the story of the young Rachel Shiori Guardian is told, who moves to Ragnarock City after the death of her mother.

action

The young Rachel Shiori Guardian moves to Ragnarock City after the death of her mother, a city sheltered under huge domes from the devastating aftermath of a global natural disaster. Magic and state-of-the-art technology merge here, populated by mutants, cyborgs and normal people. Rachel is surprised to find that the residents of Ragnarock City are more than open-hearted: women prefer to wear topless, whether for leisure, sports or work. Same-sex partnerships are also lived out.

After a certain period of acclimatization, Rachel finds her way around the city, finds friends and an older classmate to whom she soon feels strongly drawn. At the same time she has to learn to deal with her ancestry, because she is a winged one , a powerful mutant being with fairy wings and enormous mental powers, which unfolds in extreme stressful situations.

publication

The Japanese first edition was published by Gakken in 2001. The manga was published in German by Carlsen Verlag in 2004. The translation is by Jürgen Seebeck.
