Raik Nowka (born February 14, 1975 in Spremberg ) is a German politician (CDU) and lawyer. Between 2014 and 2019 he was a member of the Brandenburg state parliament and health policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group in Potsdam.

Life and work

After graduating from the Erwin-Strittmatter-Gymnasium in Spremberg and the subsequent basic military service in 1993, Raik Nowka studied law at the University of Potsdam from 1994 to 1999. There he passed his first state examination in law. He completed his legal clerkship at the Cottbus Regional Court in 2001 with the second state examination in law.

Then Raik Nowka worked as a department head in the social welfare office of the city of Spremberg. In 2003 he moved to the Knappschaft-Bahn-See in Cottbus as head of the health and long-term care insurance department. Nowka is married and has three children. He lives in the Graustein district of Spremberg.

Political activity

Nowka has been a member of the CDU since 2011. In addition, since the municipal elections in Brandenburg in 2014 , he has been an honorary member of the Spree-Neisse district council, the Spremberg city council and the Graustein local council. Since January 2016 he has been chairman of the CDU district association Spree-Neisse.

MP

With the 2014 state election, Raik Nowka succeeded for the first time since 1994 in gaining a direct mandate for the CDU in the Spree-Neisse II state electoral district . He prevailed against the candidate Jörg Rakete from the SPD.

The CDU parliamentary group in Potsdam elected the lawyer at the end of September 2014 due to his professional experience as spokesman for health policy. He took over the post from Michael Schierack, who had held the function up to then.
