Rainbow Rowell (born February 24, 1973 in Omaha , Nebraska , USA ) is an American author of children's books and books for adolescents .

Life

Rowell was a columnist and reporter for the Omaha World-Herald newspaper from 1995 to 2012 . In the years since 2011 she has published five novels for young adults, two of which have so far been published in German, also as audio books. A sixth novel is due to appear in the USA in autumn 2015.

The book Eleanor & Park was praised by the trade press in 2013. For example, it was among the Top Ten Best Fiction for Young Adults of the ALA Best Books for Young Adults of the US Association of Librarians . The film studio DreamWorks SKG planned to make a film based on the book and asked Rowell to write the script. However, production was stopped in August 2016. In May 2019 it was made public that Picturestart and Plan B had acquired the film rights to the novel. Rowell wrote the draft for her next book, Fangirl, from 2013 as part of the 2011 National Novel Writing Month competition held in the USA .

Rowell lives in Nebraska with husband and two sons.
