Rainbows (band)

The Rainbows were a German beat band from West Berlin from the 1960s , whose song Balla Balla was internationally successful in 1965. The song is now called: My Baby Baby Balla Balla .

With Balla Balla, the Rainbows reached number 3 in the weekly German singles charts in 1965 and number 16 in the annual ranking. In 1966 the band received the bronze Bravo Otto from the youth magazine BRAVO because of their popularity in Germany at the time, behind the Beatles and the Rolling Stones .

  • Rolf Schröder (* 1944, vocals, guitar)
  • Heinz-Dieter Heinze (* 1943 drums) and
  • Horst Lippok (* 1941, bass).
  • Gerhard (Hardy) Glöckner (* 1945, vocals, bass)
  • Udo Lombard (* 1945, drums, percussions)

In 1966/67, the then bassist of the group The Shads, Gerhard Glöckner, replaced Horst Lippok from London. The band came through the influence of the musicians Lombard and Glöckner to a new basic beat that was well received by the fans. In 1971 Rolf Schröder and Hardy Glöckner left the band for good.

In the early 1980s, the Rainbows played again with a new line-up. In addition to the two founding members Hartmut Münster and Hans Dieter Heinze, there were three other musicians from the Berlin scene: Burkhard Hamburger, Rudolf Fischer and Darko Presicek.
