Rajalakshmi Engineering College (REC) is a technical college in Thandalam, near Chennai , Tamil Nadu , India.
The college was established in 1997 by the Rajalakshmi Educational Trust and approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) in New Delhi. It is a subsidiary of Anna University in South India. In 2000 it received a certificate for the academic standard from TÜV Süddeutschland (ISO9001). The college is located near Hyundai Motors and SIPCOT.
history
The first years
In 1997 the university was granted permission to offer engineering courses in the fields of mechanical engineering , electronics and information technology. The College City Office on New Avadi Road, Kilpauk (near Purasawalkam) in Chennai opened in 1997.
expansion
In 1999 the college began with 11 undergraduate and postgraduate undergraduate programs in electrical and electronic information technology in 1999, followed by automotive engineering in 2006. Aerospace engineering joined in 2005, as well as biomedical engineering and biotechnology. Bachelor and master programs, a construction department (architecture) followed.
