Rajdoot

Rajdoot was an Indian brand of motorcycles and scooters produced by Escorts .

Rajdoot (SHL M11)

In 1962, the People's Republic of Poland sold the Indian company Escorts the production license to SHL M11 and to motor scooters OSA M52. Before purchasing the license, Escorts was involved in assembling and selling Polish vehicles in India. The motorcycles “Rajdoot”, which means “ambassador” in Indian, were based on the construction of SHL M11 and were produced in various versions without interruption until 2005. In addition to the normal street models such as Standard, DeLuxe, Excel-T and Ace, the amazing “motorcycle” Rajdoot GTS "Bobby" was also created. Electrically controlled ignition was used in the engines of the last versions of “Rajdoot” , as well as the 4-speed gearbox and the 12 V alternator . In the ACE model, the engine output has been increased by up to 10  hp .

The production of the OSA motor scooters in India did not materialize because the Polish state power has meanwhile made the decision to dissolve WFM (Warschauer Motorräderfabrik) - Hindus' license partner. The Escorts company designed its own scooter - Rajdoot Rajhans (later Runabout), the construction of which was based on the OSA M52 scooter and the OSA M55 prototype. For the construction of "Rajdoot Rajhans" Escorts used the engine from the engine family S32 / 33/34, which is a further development of the engine of the DKW RT 125 .
