Raji Sourani

Raji Sourani ( Arabic راجي الصوراني) (Born December 31, 1953 ) is a Palestinian lawyer and human rights activist.

Life

Sourani has been campaigning for human rights in Palestine and the Arab world for 35 years . As the founder of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights , he represents victims of human rights violations in court and investigates and documents human rights violations by the Israeli and Palestinian sides. Sourani was arrested several times by the Israeli and Palestinian sides and was not allowed to leave the Gaza Strip between 1977 and 1990 . Sourani is President of the Arab Organization for Human Rights. He received the Right Livelihood Award on September 26, 2013 for his work . He is the first Palestinian to be awarded the “Alternative Nobel Prize”.
