Ralf Oberdorfer

Ralf Oberdorfer (born April 4, 1960 in Plauen ) is a German politician ( FDP ) and Lord Mayor of the city of Plauen since 2000 .

Life

Oberdorfer attended the Seumeschule in his birthplace Plauen from 1966 to 1976, where he also trained as a machine and system fitter between 1976 and 1979 in steel construction. From 1982 to 1987 he studied at the TU Chemnitz and graduated as a graduate engineer. In 1985 he joined the LDPD . 1987 to 1989 he worked in vocational training. In the following years Oberdorfer worked as an office manager in the German Bundestag and as a managing director in the private sector.

On June 25, 2000, the FDP politician ran as an independent candidate in the mayoral elections in Plauen. He was elected mayor in the second ballot. He has held this office since September 1, 2000. He was able to gain experience in local politics as the leader of the FDP parliamentary group in the city council of Plauen. For the election of mayor of the city of Plauen on June 24, 2007, Oberdorfer was confirmed in office with a majority of 87.1% of the votes cast.

Oberdorfer is also chairman of the water / wastewater association Vogtland and in this capacity had to admit in June 2012 that the association had concluded risky interest rate bets under his leadership in 2007, which currently threatens the association with a loss of around 61 million euros.

Oberdorfer was married from 1983 to 2007. The marriage had two children.
