Collection for democracy and progress

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Collection for Democracy and Progress ( French : Rassemblement pour la démocratie et le progrès (RDP)) is a political party in Chad , currently led by Mahamat Allahou Taher .

The party was founded by Lol Mohammed Chawa in December 1991 and was one of the first political parties to be legalized in March 1992.

In the parliamentary elections on April 21, 2002, the party that had formed an alliance with the ruling Patriotic Welfare Movement won 12 out of 155 seats.

However, since the Chadian constitutional referendum of June 2005 allowed President Idriss Déby to remain in power and the RDP, along with other parties and organizations, called for a boycott of this referendum, it has since been part of the opposition.
