Ralph Christensen

Ralph Christensen (* 1953 in San José (California) ) is a German legal scholar , author, philosopher and co-founder of the Heidelberg group of legal linguistics . His writings have had a significant impact on German legal philosophy , legal methodology and interdisciplinary legal linguistics .

Life

Ralph Christensen was born in San José in 1953. He studied philosophy, jurisprudence, German and sociology and received his doctorate in both law and philosophy . After completing his studies, he worked as a research assistant for Friedrich Müller at Heidelberg University for ten years . Since 1991 he has been a tutor for public law, philosophy of language and analytical rhetoric at Hemmer Bonn and Cologne.

Main focus of work and work

His work focuses on dogmatics, legal theory and methodology, especially the European Court of Justice (ECJ) as well as interdisciplinary research on the language and mediality of law. Ralph Christensen is one of the most important legal linguists in Germany. He was a co-founder of the Heidelberg group of legal linguistics. Most of his writings have been published by Duncker & Humblot , where he and the linguist Friedemann Vogel (Siegen) also publish the monograph series “Language and Mediality of Law”.
