Ramón Luis Valcárcel
Ramón Luis Valcárcel (born November 16, 1954 in Murcia ) is a Spanish politician of the Partido Popular .
Life
From July 3, 1995 to April 14, 2014, Valcárcel was President of the Spanish region of Murcia, succeeding María Antonia Martínez . From July 2012 to 2014 he was the successor to Mercedes Bresso as President of the Committee of the Regions . He has been a member of the European Parliament since 2014 . There he is Vice-President of the European Parliament and a member of the Presidium of the European Parliament, the Committee on Regional Development , the Delegation for relations with the Mashreq countries and the Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean.
He is one of the 89 people from the European Union against whom Russia imposed an entry ban in May 2015 .
