Ramón Souto

Ramón Souto Caride (born April 21, 1976 in Vigo ) is a Spanish composer . He is the founder and artistic director of the Vertixe Sonora Ensemble chamber orchestra .

Life

After studying at CSM Vigo and CLEM Barcelona, ​​he worked with the Artello theater group , for whose shows fabel und polgariño he wrote the music.

He joined the experimental platform BAUR and took part in events at which free improvisation , progressive rock and free jazz alternated.

At the same time, he presented his work at meetings and major festivals such as the Latin American Composers Festival Injuve , Villafranca , Acanthes , the Spanish Music Festival of Cadiz . He received awards such as an honorable mention at the 2008 Ossia International Composition Competition in New York.

Souto works closely with artists like Yi-Chung Chen, Juan Carlos Garvayo, Donatienne Michel-Dansac and poets like Jorge Riechmann.

He is currently Professor of Music at the IES de Mos ( Mos , Pontevedra ).
