The Ramal de Lima Duarte is a historic railway line in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. It was built as a siding to the EFCB - Linha do Centro railway line for Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil .

history

The siding from Lima Duarte was completed in 1914 as far as Penido and in 1924 as far as Valadares. It was not until 1926 that this siding was extended to Lima Duarte with a total length of 56 km. The siding should be extended to Bom Jardim de Minas, where one would have met the RMV railway line. But this extension never came. In the meantime, this siding was completely shut down on September 1, 1974, while passenger trains had stopped running since 1972.
