The Ramal de Santa Maria Madalena and the Ramal de Manoel de Morais are a historic railway line in the state of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil .

history

The Ramal de Santa Maria Madalena together with the Ramal de Manoel de Morais were sections that were connected to the Linha do Litoral at the same point and connected the train station of Conde de Araruama with Ventania (Manoel de Morais) or Santa Maria Madalena. The lines were put into operation between 1878 and 1891 by the railway company EF Barão de Araruama and only later in 1896 (Morais) and 1907 (Madalena) did the Estrada de Ferro Leopoldina take over the railway lines and expand them further.

Depending on the epoch, the main line was sometimes between Conde de Araruama-Madalena or between Conde de Araruama-Manoel de Morais and the other line was then called the siding. Between May 31, 1966 and May 31, 1967, both lines were closed.
