The Ramesseum is a temple built by Ramses II in West Thebes . Together with the other temples that stood there, it is one of the millions of years old .

In the Ramesseum, the cult of the dead for Ramses II and the cult for the Theban triad of gods , consisting of Amun , Mut and Chons , took place. Surrounded by a high wall, the Ramesseum looked like a fortress. A canal connected all the tombs with one another. On the outside and inside walls, Ramses II had his great battle at Kadesh depicted. The space between the wall and the temple was occupied by magazines and workshops. The floor area of the magazines was 8,300 m². The Ramesseum also included a Mammisi (birthplace), a port facility and a holy lake . In the complex is a damaged statue of a pharaoh, which is one of the heaviest known monoliths ever created and transported.
