Ramfjord (locality)

Ramfjord is a settlement area ( tettsted ) and a village in the municipality of Tromsø in the Norwegian province of Troms og Finnmark . It is located about 20 kilometers south of Tromsø city center.
The place consists of the districts Lauksletta, Fagernes / Ramfjordmoen, Sørbotn and Hanslarsanes. On January 1, 2006 these had a total of 1,055 and the school district 1,365 inhabitants. The center is Fagernes. Here you will find primary and secondary schools, kindergartens, grocery stores and kiosks. On Ramfjordmoen, east of Fagernes, you will find the Tromsøer Racecourse , a research station of the University of Tromsø (including the EISCAT radar systems) and a rallycross track . Ramfjord campsite is in Sørbotn.
The European route 8 , the access route to Tromsø, runs through most of the settlements. Provincial road 91 leads from Fagernes towards North Troms.
