Ramot-Gilead ("height of Gilead", Assyrian Gal'aza, today Tell er-Rumeith) is a place mentioned in the Bible in the East Bank , the remains of which are in today's Jordan . The area around Ramot-Gilead was called Gilead .

In Deuteronomy ( Dtn 4,43  EU ) and in the book of Joshua ( Jos 20,8  EU ) Ramot-Gilead is mentioned as the asylum city of the Gad tribe , in which people who had killed someone without intent could escape blood vengeance.

In Ramot-Gilead, according to 2 Kings 8.28–29 EU and 9.14–15 EU, about 900 BC took place. A battle between Hazael , king of Aram , and Joram of Israel took place, which ended with the defeat of Joram. Ramot-Gilead was incorporated into the kingdom of Aram.
