Rampamuffe

A RAMPA socket is a long screw-in nut with a metric internal thread and (mostly) wooden external thread.

The Rampamuffe was invented in 1905 by Hermann Brügmann. They come in many different designs these days.

In its standard form, it has a slot at one end that allows it to be countersunk into a blind or through hole with a wide screwdriver . A metric screw can then be screwed in.

Special designs are also offered, which are made of stone, metal, iron and aluminum die-cast parts, such as B. can be used in motorcycle cylinder housings if the originally metric thread cut there is torn. The thread insert offers a similar solution .

Today the term Rampamuffe has become a synonym for screw-in nut (DIN 7965), although the name RAMPA is a protected brand name of the company Hans Brügmann GmbH & Co. screw factory from Büchen .
