Rampside is a village south of Barrow-in-Furness on the southern edge of the Furness Peninsula , on the northern edge of Morecambe Bay .

Rampside is first mentioned in the records of the monks at Furness Abbey in 1292.

In the 18th century, Rampside was larger than Barrow-in-Furness and a well-known seaside resort. The poet William Wordsworth visited the place frequently.

The village has a small harbor and is on the mainland side of the dam that connects Roa Island to the mainland. The main employers in the area are the Rampside Gas Terminal and the Rosecote Power Station . Natural gas from natural gas fields in Morecambe Bay and the Irish Sea comes ashore here and operates among other things. a. also the Rosecote power plant.
