Randfontein (municipality)

Randfontein ( English Randfontein Local Municipality ) was a local municipality in the West Rand District , Gauteng Province in South Africa . In 2011, 149,286 inhabitants lived there on a total area of ​​475 km². The seat of the municipal administration was in Randfontein . The community name means something like "source in the Witwatersrand ". The motto was Industria crescemus ( Latin , German for example: "We grow through diligence").

The local church was merged with Westonaria Local Municipality in 2016 under the new name Rand West City .
