Randolph D. "Tex" Alles (* 1954 in San Antonio ) is an American government official. As of April 25, 2017, he was the 25th director of the United States Secret Service (USSS). Previously, he was Deputy Commissioner for the United States Customs and Border Protection . By 2011 he had served in the United States Marine Corps , where he rose to the rank of major general . In August 2017, he publicly warned that the very numerous trips by President Trump and his family (all of which take place under the protection of the Secret Service) could overwhelm the Secret Service in terms of personnel and finances. On April 8, 2019, US government spokeswoman Sarah Sanders announced without giving any reason that everything would be leaving office shortly.
