Sarah Elizabeth Huckabee Sanders (born Huckabee ; born August 13, 1982 in Hope , Arkansas ) is an American political advisor and was the White House press secretary from July 2017 to the end of June 2019 , after she was previously deputy. On June 13, 2019, President Donald Trump announced that she would be leaving the White House in late June.

Life

Sarah was born to the Republican politician and future governor of Arkansas , Mike Huckabee . She graduated from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia . From 2002 she worked as a regional coordinator for the US Department of Education under George W. Bush and participated in a number of Senate and presidential campaigns. In 2007 she moved to Iowa to prepare and lead her father's application for the Republican presidential candidacy .

Sarah Sanders is married to the conservative political advisor Bryan Sanders. The family has three children. In 2016, she initially supported her father Mike Huckabee in the presidential election campaign and, after his retirement, the future US President Donald Trump . When she became Assistant Press Secretary for the White House, she and her family moved to Washington, DC. As Sean Spicer's deputy , she became the President's Press Secretary after he stepped down in July 2017.

The Washington Post reported in 2017 that Sanders conferred every morning with her father, who is also known as a political commentator.

In November 2018, the White House withdrew press conference accreditation from CNN journalist Jim Acosta after he started a discussion with President Trump at a press conference and turned away from an intern when she tried to take the microphone from him and touched her arm. Sanders released a no sound video that shows an excerpt from the action. The video generated international reactions and was rated differently by numerous media. Several media outlets accused Sanders of using a fake video. Other media suggested that only converting and compressing a video into a GIF reduced the frame rate . On November 16, 2018, a court ruled that the withdrawal of accreditation was illegal.

On June 13, 2019, Donald Trump announced that Sanders would leave her White House position at the end of the month and return to her home state of Arkansas. Successor in the office of press spokesman was Stephanie Grisham on July 1st .
