ranger is a text-based file manager for GNU and Unixoid systems , the operation of which is inspired by Vim .

design

The interactive console application for Linux and other Unixoid systems displays directory hierarchies optionally via a multi-column view with Miller columns , whereby the right column can contain a preview of the file selected in the middle column. Alternatively, there is a classic panel view as with Midnight Commander . The navigation is done using keyboard shortcuts similar to Vim , the mouse is also supported. The typical operations (copy / delete / change rights / move / ...) can be used on marked entries. An automatic recognition of file types ensures coordinated, configurable execution of programs.
