Ranking list (GDR football)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The football magazine " Die neue Fußballwoche " (fuwo) , which appeared on the territory of the GDR from 1949 to 1992, regularly compiled ranking lists of the players in the GDR upper league . Fuwo published the leaderboards regularly during the winter break and after the end of the season. They were sorted according to 11 tactical positions and from 1962 were based on the ratings of the players by the editorial team according to a point system with which the performance was rated between 0 (lowest value) and 10 (highest value). The prerequisite for inclusion of a player on the list was a grade point average of at least 5.0 and a minimum number of games played. The leaderboard consisted mostly of 55, but sometimes only 33 players. Over the decades, the position categories have been changed again and again and adapted to the development of the game systems. The players with the highest marks in each position made up the "Eleven of the Year".
