Rangpur ( Citrus × limonia ) is a variety of citrus plants ( Citrus ). The origin of these hybrids is unknown. It is grown for its fruits and for use as a grafting base .

The petals have a strong purple color. The fruits are small to medium in size, round with a clear neck and a light teat at the tip of the fruit. The peel (the exocarp ) is thinner than that of ordinary limes . The fruit is orange in color; the orange pulp is soft. The orange juice tastes very sour.

use

The Rangpur lime is valued as an ornamental plant in the USA, but is also used as a grafting base in South America and the Orient. Since 2006 there is a gin flavored with the Rangpur fruit from the English brand Tanqueray .
