Tanqueray
Tanqueray is a British gin brand that is marketed worldwide. It belongs to the multinational drinks and spirits group Diageo , which includes Tanqueray as one of its “strategic brands”.
history
The company's founder, Charles Tanqueray, came from a clerical family from Bedfordshire, England . In 1830 he built a distillery in London district of Bloomsbury , the Gin of high quality manufactured. Tanqueray got into the export business in 1847 and supplied the British colonies , especially Jamaica . After his death in 1868, his son Charles Waugh Tanqueray inherited the company. In 1898 the company merged with Gordon's Gin to form Tanqueray Gordon & Co.
Tanqueray Gin later also became a popular brand in the United States , for example as a main ingredient in Drink Dry Martini . In German air raids in 1941, the distillery was almost completely destroyed - just a burning vessel remained intact and is still in use. Most of the production now takes place in Cameronbridge , Scotland . The term London Dry Gin does not indicate the origin, but refers to the recipe and the manufacturing process.
Products
The Tanqueray London Dry Gin , the original brand, is sold in different strengths from 40 to 47.3 percent alcohol by volume. The main markets are Great Britain, the United States, Canada and Spain . The design of the eye-catching green bottles is based on a three-part cocktail shaker .
The gin Tanqueray No. Ten was launched in 2000. He is considered high quality; Just like the London Dry Gin, it is characterized by a fourfold distillation.
The Tanqueray Sterling Vodka was introduced in 1989. Flavored citrus vodka is also available.
For the Tanqueray Rangpur Gin , introduced in 2006 , the aroma of the Rangpur fruit is used.
The less successful Tanqueray Malacca Gin was only sold from 2000 to 2004. Diageo re-launched this variety in 2013 in a limited edition.
The Tanqueray Flor de Sevilla has been available in the United Kingdom and Spain since April 2018 .
