The Ransom Water Tower is a former water tower with historical relevance. The 1896 cylinder-shaped structure is in Ransom , in LaSalle County , in the US state of Illinois , in the United States . It is located on East Plumb Street between Cartier Street and Columbus Street .
The tower was built after a large fire ravaged the village in the early 1890s. In July 1990 the tower was taken out of service.
The foundation and plinth are made of brick , the walls of the tower, which no longer exists (today only the plinth is still there), were made of metal in the interior , the roof and the outer wall were made of wood .
The Ransom Water Tower was listed as a Historic Monument on November 2, 1990 by the National Register of Historic Places with the number 90001723.
