Raphelengius was a family of book printers in the 16th and 17th centuries. The family name is the Latinized form of the Dutch family name van Ravelingen , named after the Flemish town of Ravelingen , which is now part of the Belgian port city of Ostend .

The progenitor, Franciscus Raphelengius the Elder (1539–1597), took over the management of the branch of Christoffel Plantijns Verlag in Leiden in 1585. The three sons - Christoph (1566–1600), Franciscus (1568 - around 1643) and Justus (1573 –1628) - ran the publishing house after the death of his father until around 1619. All four were experts in the oriental languages and published their own books.
